a jolly little elf

by gl. at 12:23 pm

shelley sent the most elaborate handmade christmas card i've ever seen: a movable elf puppet on a stick! and as if that wasn't enough, it came with a beautiful hand-lettered tag:

thanks, shelley! "webster" is amazing!

Aw! Thanks, Sven!! If this rang a bell with you and the Gretchin, Paul and I better get cracking on an even gooder one for next year!!!

Happy New Year!

Your thanks goes to Gretchin first; I love the elf too, but myself being sequestered in the garage animating right now, she took on writing this post for the both of us.

...Which allows me to merely chip in: rockin' elf, Shells! Thank you SO much!!

...it's true. lowercase is always me. :) but no need to out-do yourself! it's not a competition!

Woah! sorry guys, I read it wrongly--thank you BOTH for the kind words!

Gretchin, I added this to the last photo in the slide show in case it was of use to anyone:

In case anyone would like to know this sort of thing, the hand-lettered-style fonts used on the groovy instruction tag and Webster's belly labels were called "Font in a Red Suit" for the Christmassy type and "Crash Numbering" (found by visiting Kim Carney's great blog (http://littlesomethings.blogspot.com/) for the numbers so they looked as if they were from an old automatic numbering device. Both are available free (Google should place it, if not let me know).

I'd be glad to send you these fonts to play with. Mac versions I can send, PC versions I can send the links, if you like.

I've just been hanging out not getting anything done. What can I say? I've basically been doing nothing worth mentioning, but pfft. Not that it matters. Pretty much nothing exciting happening to speak of. I haven't been up to much these days.
