monster month - 2

by sven at 8:00 am

Further sketches, contributing to Jeffrey Roche's "Monster Month" event.

brainstem a go-go

Perhaps some sort of brain that has escaped from its owner, taking one eye with it in the process? Or perhaps an alien species that just happens to have its primary wad of neurons located in a head-reminiscent part of the body? ...Beware those rear feelers -- I suspect they sting!

gelatinous lurker

This creature seems to be largely composed of a gelatinous substance, as I'm clearly able to make out organs floating within... Organs that look somewhat like mitochondria. The head is mushroom shaped, and has three eyes waving on spaghetti stalks. The chest seems to be covered with a fine coat of cilia. There don't appear to be feet, but rather pointed pseudopods that stretch and recede as needed. The arm -- that hideous arm -- snaps outward elastically, providing a reach several times the length of the thing's main body.

Yikes! Your monsters are (not at all surprisingly) cerebral! I wonder if I too have such monsters in my sub or un conscious somewhere without any idea?!!

Hm... As you're lying in bed, and sleep just begins to take you down the staircase of 700 steps to the nether realms of consciousness, listen carefully... Is there a sort of gurgling sound coming from beneath your feet? A wheeze? A whisper?

I heard a whurffle the other night..... a hideous whurffle! Unearthly and eeire it was, made my hackles stand up. It was rife with a sort of slurping, slithering sludginess... it was a wet whurffle. A warbling, whimpering wet whurffle.

And, hey, I once did a drawing of a floating brain with a spinal cord hanging under it and a pair of eyes on optic nerves drifting in front of it. It's the ultimate self-image, nothing but mind and eyes, vulvnerable and exposed, drifting like a slow helium balloon.

Oooo... "Slow helium balloon" -- nicely poetic!

The wharbled wet whurffle, he whimpers so willingly, He soothes with his wet wharbled sounds oh so chillingly, That slithery slurpy sludge slimes, its amazing, And he strikes quick as thunder, your hackles still raising.

:D

Sweet!

That's what Gretchin would call an "artistic response"... Thanks, man!
