From the moment of birth the human face fascinates us like nothing else. Paint fascinating and expressive portraits by learning from the masters! Get to know your subjects and how to use the magic of paint to bring them to life. As you might expect from Scarlet Star Studios, this is not a typical portrait class: Serena encourages art exploration, using a wide variety of techniques and mediums as gentle guides to discover your unique vision & style.

This is your chance to learn to create captivating faces in acrylic or water-mixable oil paint. You will experiment with realistic, impressionistic and abstract faces. You'll also learn about mixing colors, layering, and painting techniques. This day promises to be fun and exciting as you discover -- or rediscover -- the joy of painting! You will leave with several studies and a finished painting on canvas.

About your guide: Serena Barton blends her long career as a counselor with her passion for art. She taught herself to paint and create mixed media work in her forties, earning her the right to insist that it is never too late to delve into what inspires us. One of Serena's great joys is to provide an atmosphere where you can discover or rekindle your own creative abilities. Check out Serena's previous class: Layers of Memory & Imagination.

About the studio: Scarlet Star Studios offers a wide variety of opportunities for art exploration, with instructors who will encourage you to create fearlessly & truthfully in a familiar, safe and inspiring studio environment.
