We're looking for kind, courageous, generous people who want to make more art! We support people & places that encourage creativity, but we have hosted several types of events at Scarlet Star Studios: unique Artist's Way Creative Clusters, a guided art night each month, a free collage night each month, a wide range of inspiring workshops led by gentle & talented instructors, and independent support options for artists. Sometimes we have also hosted art supply swaps, labyrinth walks, art salons & other unexpectedly delightful opportunities for art exploration.

7, 9, 13, 15: Come see Gretchin perform in Portland Opera's Fidelio! She won't be singing, but she'll still be on stage and would love to know you're in the audience.

8: Support the Independent Publishing Resource Center by attending the "Figures of Speech" Text Ball! Where else will you find people who love words enough to create literary pun costumes? If you, too, love the power & potential of words, you can attend Wordstock and then head across the street over to celebrate at the Text Ball.

15: Make this a handmade holiday! Give meaningful gifts this year by supporting low-income artists, your local economy & the planet all at the same time. At the Trillium Artisans Annual Holiday Sale you can support low-income artists, your local economy & the planet while delighting gift recipients with quality crafts made from recycled & reclaimed materials. Meet the artisans and indulge in wine and snacks as you take care of some early holiday shopping! Gretchin is on the Board of Trillium Artisans and helps to advocate its mission to support People, Planet and Profit.

December 2008
10: Print Gocco Basics at the IPRC. Combining the elegance of screenprinting with the ease of photocopying, the Print Gocco quickly & neatly converts your artwork into professional-looking prints on paper or fabric. It's magic! Gocco is one of the easiest, cleanest, most non-toxic printmaking options around. Appropriate for ages 12 and up. And if you have yet to acquaint yourself with the Independent Publishing Resource Center, you're really missing out.
